the sliding centre

we were lucky enough to get to see an exclusive training session of the canadian skeleton team at the whistler sliding centre, where they have the bobsled and luge aswell for the olympics.I had no idea what skeleton was,so i found out that back in the 60s they made up a board from parts of a bobsled (skeleton) and created this crazy new sport. They are lying face forward and are only holding on with tiny handles, they have no brakes and get up to 150km an hr, and the only way they can stop is to dig their spikes into the ice thats on the shoes. The ice that they slide on at the time i was there was -11 degrees but obviously gets colder in the winter and harder and then they go faster!!! so that was out little work excursion.there is a video down the bottom, check it out!!
