christmas eve-St Vincent, day 2

well i had slept like a baby being rocked to sleep by the waves, it was a beautiful sunny morning and it was soo great to be in summer pjs!
i met the rest of the gang which consisted of, deb, marc, sandy, yosi, cynthia and myself!
sandy, cynthia and i caught the taxi down down kingstown to get some supplies for the boat, knowing it was xmas eve we knew it would be busy but i never thought id almost die in a supermarket!it was crazy in there, everyone on that island was out shopping today, getting run over by trollies, cars and almost getting hit head on by traffic! we saw 3, 3 car pile ups wihtin 2 hrs of being in town they are maniac drivers, people hanging out the back of utes, 30 people jammed into a 12 seater mini van which were the island buses. i couldnt believe it. then we went to the markets hoping to get some fruit and veges, we were the only white people and i mean white cos i havent seen the sun in a while, some little islander kid about 8 years old with a trolly yells out "ay nigga your too white to come in here" i was really scared, then all the islander boys were checking me out offering to help me shop! it was definately a culture shock from that downtown experience. whoa!
we then went to a nice bar on the water, had some lunch and a lethal rum punch! Dinner required a ferry to get to a smaller island to this restaurant where we ate in little private huts, we also managed to get into an argument with the waitress over the menu. we thought it was a simple request but obviously not, and of all the adults there i managed to explain the situation to the manager in a very mature way and got it all sorted, go me!
so we got our water taxi back to the main island and off to sleep to wait for santa!woooo

New York- Barbados- St Vincents, day 1

today is the day i go on an adventure to the carribbean!
we wake up at 4.30 am and get goin to the airport where it was christmas madness!! after a few security breaches by myself and deb, we got on our way. 1st stop BARBADOS- this was an extra trip that i didnt know about, well it was a stop over but it meant another stamp in my passport and got the chance to have a quick look at the island. we had a nice dinner on the water, then back to the airport where cheap-o-air had decided that i was staying in Barbados and not flying on to St Vincent. After some verbal abuse and lying we got me a seat to St Vincent!!
so after an extra hour delay, we finally boarded this tiny little plane to Kingstown, it was literally an up and a down and we were there. we thought it was great, it was late at night and no one would be at the airport.. until we walked into this little green hut,it was packed full of bags, you couldnt even see the ground, it was soo hot, long lines and the security was nuts! we literally had to step on peoples bags to get to ours. maybe some organisation would help!Got in our organised taxi and just made it to Horizon yacht charters where our boat awaits!ah
