Bali - Day 1

After arriving to our hotel at midnight, we were told that our room wasn't available as there was a sick man in there that couldn't move and the hotel was full. He assured us that their sister hotel would be nice for 1 night. Thought it must be ok, got to the room and it was gross.. There was only one towel, no fridge, marks on the wall.. Went to jump into bed and there were stains all over the sheets! That was it! We went back to our original hotel and demanded a room.. And we got one, thankfully!
This is the View from Swiss-Belinn Legian.. It's ok for a cheap place to stay.. Close to beach but without the price tag. $50 a night

We strolled along the beach, and watch the surfers, walked the dodgy back streets trying to find a massage or some shops so Leigh could get some sunnies and a singlet. The original asking price was 450,000. We got so confused with our money and it got awkward! I ended up only giving him 200,000k. He wasn't happy with us, gave us a black plastic bag... Leigh threw it in the bin right away so we weren't targets again!
We found some beautiful homewares shops! That could be dangerous!
Then we came across a cute beach cafe called Shelter which is all superfood smoothies and acai bowls, playing reggae tunes in a bungalow.
Then we got lost walking the streets, gave up and jumped in a taxi for 50,000k
But it was worth every cent in this heat!
Now time for a swim and a beer at the roof top bar of Swiss-Bel.

We had a lovely traditional Balinese massage for 1 hour costing 100k.
So that's 10 Aud. we're slowly getting used to the money!

We met a man and his son from Perth that arrived the same time we did. We had a few chats up on the rooftop and he gave us some great local tips. Russell and Jesse Smith. They asked us out for dinner to a local Thai restaurant and we accepted. It was delicious!
The plan was to go and catch up with Lewis and Danielle, but it took sooo long  to get even half way there. There was no point getting in a taksi as the traffic wasn't even moving! We got so sick of walking that we just decided to stroll home along the beach and stop at a few bars.
Then Leigh lost his shit when he heard a Balinese band playing pink floyd. So we stopped in and enjoyed the tunes with a strong Balinese coffee.
Now it's bed time😴
